TRANSPHENOIDAL ENDOSCOPIC PITUITARY HYPOPHYSECTOMY: REPORT OF THE 1ST CASE IN DONE IN THE HOSPITAL UNIVERSITI SAINS MALAYSIA

The first combined translabial transphenoidal endoscopic assisted pituitary hypophysectomy is report. The 54 years old Malay male with a diagnosed pituitary adenoma was operated in supine position with the head elevated and the body in the business class seat position. The labial was opened and thereafter with endoscopic assistance the sphenoid sinus was reached. The wall of the sphenoid sinus was opened exposing the dura. After opening the dura the pituitary adenoma was removal with the video endoscopic assistance. Postoperatively the patient recovered well and repeat MRI of the sella revealed regression of tumour.
